Well… I can’t say I’ve done anything really significant lately (By which I mean, finished something), but at least I’ve been doodling a lot. Read more »

Stupid technology

Posted in Life, Site Updates on July 15th, 2009

For some odd reason the whole lytebox thing is going haywire again. I had all kinds of trouble with it when I first started this site. It’s the iframes probably. If I’d known all the stuff about iframes originally I probably wouldn’t have used it. Lytebox is showing images fine if I open them while just looking at the blog itself, or looking at images in my gallery through the iframe, but it doesn’t work if I try to view an image from the blog from inside the frame. At least the images are showing, whereas yesterday they weren’t even showing, I had to change all the image paths to full URLs, and it was working again this morning, but alas. So yeah sorry if anything’s not showing up right for you, I’ll try to mess with it later.

In other news, I started inventory today. AnimeFest is only a handful of weeks away, and I’m also looking into Oni-Con later in the fall =)

Tokyo in Tulsa report!

Posted in Conventions, Life on July 14th, 2009

Whew! Got back late last night after getting a bit lost and taking the scenic route. The con was great! It was pretty slow sales-wise, which I guess for some people can totally ruin a con, but I’m really glad I went. I got to get to know the Toon Twins, Alicechan, and Tachiik a lot better, as well as meeting lots of people from dA and other new artists I’d never seen before. My neighbors were great, the friendly artist of OrAnIMe and his wife on my left and the awesome guys of Doomsplosion on my right, to whom I was happy to feel inferior to all weekend =] Also met and had a good time chatting with DreamGear Studios. I drug my mom along for this one since the usual people I might have road tripped to a convention with weren’t able to make it. Full convention report is below.

I’ll be off soon!

Posted in Artwork, Conventions on July 9th, 2009

In about… oh… eight and a half hours I’ll be off to Tokyo in Tulsa. I hope the car ride isn’t going to be a pain. I’m not much for car rides unless I’m passed out the whole time. I kinda wanted to sleep some more tonight but there’s just so much to do. I still have school all morning, so I should really get most, if not all, of the packing done before that.

I threw this together at the last minute after heading off to the print shop to get some laminating done. I think it would be cool if, some day when I’m famous (HURR), I had a big sign/banner at my table. But for now this will have to do. I only printed it at 11″x17″, and since the drawings weren’t done to be that big it looks kinda blurry, but it’s shiny! Shiny is good. the main problem is that the print shop still messes with colors… I should have thought to convert it to CMYK first. I don’t know for sure if that’s the problem, but everything just looks so… yellow. Like Noizi Ito skin yellow, rofl. Its cool though. I’m not sure how I’ll display it, however. I want to hang it over the front of the table somehow.

Anyway, I hope to update soon after the con, dear blog! So long until then, wish me luck dear imaginary readers!

Happy Fourth!

Posted in Artwork on July 4th, 2009

Happy Fourth of July! Yay!

One of these years I’ll go to a fireworks show again, for real. I’ve really only been to one (That I remember). Every other year I usually just have to contend myself with watching from afar (you can see several fireworks shows going off in the distance from my backyard, most years), or watching the DC show on TV. It’s just always so darn crowded at all the shows around here, plus it’s hot as heck this time of year, not exactly good weather for sitting around outside, but once the sun goes down it becomes much better.

Anyway, pics!

I finished sketching L and Light for buttons. I’m much happier with how Light looks now. Now for colorin’…

Next up is Kaito of Vocaloid. I don’t really care for most art of him (I think he looks like a fruitcake… what with that light-blue and white color scheme and silly scarf thingy), but the fangirls demand Kaito, so I shall comply. I don’t think he looks much like himself here (Good thing?). Hopefully coloring will fix that 8D

Diary of a Spraypaint-stoned Convention Artist

It’s L!

Gosh, I hope that’s obvious. I adore Takeshi Obata’s art but the style does not translate easily into mine. The eyes in particular are giving me trouble. Read more »

Cleaning/School/Tokyo in Tulsa

Posted in Artwork, Conventions, Life on July 2nd, 2009

Ahh. I can honestly say I was productive tonight… well, maybe not so much ‘productive’, but… useful? Or something. Anyways, I cleaned my room, which entailed organizing my sketchbooks, art supplies (most of which were moved to the “studio” AKA the spare bedroom), school books, manga collection, video games, and other assorted random junk lying around the place. It’s always a good sign when you have so much stuff to throw out you can’t just toss it all in the nearest garbage can. Read more »
